Miracles happen all around the world. Question is why they happen in Lourdes? This small French town is one of Europe’s most powerful healing shrines and one of the worlds most-visited of all Christian pilgrimage sites. How can this be correlated to the Mayan prophecy?

Miraculous cures have been associated with Lourdes since a young servant girl named Bernadette Soubirous claimed to see radiant visions of Virgin Mary in 1858. There have been 70 miraculous cures of incurable diseases officially documented by the Roman Catholic Church’s Medical Bureau.

The unofficial numbers of miraculous cures and healings are much greater – at least 7000. Today, more than 5 million pilgrims visit every year to be healed.

What happened in 1858?

How can the miracles happen?

And how can these healings be explained?

How did we end up in Lourdes?

View of Pyrenees from the campsite

On our 3-month journey in a RV around Southern Europe in Spring 2017 we “accidentally” came to Lourdes. We literally just saw a signpost as we passed by, going to a campsite. As we are all about following the signs and flow, we decided to check it out.

We started the 5th morning of our journey outside Lourdes, to use the large grass lawn at the campsite to play some tennis. The sun was shining; it was warm and the panorama view of the Pyrenees astonishingly beautiful with its snow filled peaks. The mountain air was so crisp and fresh this first day of March. We were all breathing it in.

“This is life”, I thought….

We figured we should see something more in the area before takeoff and left to go to Lourdes where the signpost had guided us. We felt a pull…and yet, Lourdes suburbs didn’t impress us, so we didn’t really get why Lourdes is such a famous town.

Coming into the center we realized how touristy it really is! There were hundreds of hotels – everywhere! Apparently, as of 2011, of French cities only Paris had more hotel capacity. Today Lourdes has a population of around 15,000, but it is able to take in some 5,000,000 pilgrims and tourists every season.

Summary

  • We were heading somewhere else, but were guided to Lourdes
  • Lourdes is located Mid-Pyrenees in Southern France and has hundreds of hotels
  • Each year – from March to October – millions of people visit

Why do millions of people visit Lourdes each year?

We did some research…

In 1858, Lourdes rose to prominence in France and abroad due to the Marian apparitions seen by the peasant girl Bernadette Soubirous. Shortly thereafter the city with the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes became one of the world’s most important sites of pilgrimage, miraculous healings and religious tourism. This constant stream of pilgrims and tourists transformed quiet Lourdes into the second most important center of tourism in France, second only to Paris, and the third most important site of international Catholic pilgrimage after Rome and the Holy Land.

The story goes like this:

In the evening of February 11, 1858, a 14 year-old Roman Catholic girl, Bernadette, went to fetch some firewood when a Lady who was indescribably beautiful appeared to her at the Massabielle grotto. Although the Lady did not tell Bernadette her name when asked, she told her to return to the grotto. On one of the 17 more visits, the Lady revealed herself to be the “Immaculate Conception” (Que soy era Immaculada Concepciou). This was a reference to the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, which had been defined only four years earlier in 1854 by Pope Pius IX, stating that the Virgin Mary herself had been conceived without sin.

Bernadette, having only little knowledge of the Catholic faith, did not understand what this meant but she reported it to her parish priest, Father Peyremale. He, though initially very skeptical of Bernadette’s claims, became convinced when he heard this because he knew the young girl had no knowledge of the doctrine.

Grotto at the bottom of the Sanctuary

In one of the apparitions the lady told Bernadette to “go tell the village priest to build a chapel here” and that many people would soon come in procession to the holy grotto. That can get a big time CHECK.

On March 25, during her ecstatic trance in front of the grotto, Bernadette suddenly rose from her knees, walked a short distance, and fell to the ground. She began to dig in the earth until a small puddle of water appeared. Over the next few days the puddle gradually formed into a pool and eventually became the sacred spring for which Lourdes is now so famous.

Almost immediately cures were reported from drinking the water.

Today thousand of gallons of water gush from the source of the spring, and pilgrims are able to bathe and drink from it. Countless miracle cures have been documented there, from the healing of nervous disorders and cancers to cases of paralysis and even of blindness.

Summary

  • Miraculous cures have been associated with Lourdes since a young servant girl named Bernadette Soubirous claimed to see a radiant vision of a woman in white on February 11, 1858.
  • Over the next few months the lady would appear 17 more times to Bernadette, visions that the Roman Catholic Church (though initially skeptical) would declare authentic appearances of the Virgin Mary.
  • Today more than 5 million pilgrims visit every year to pray, bathe and drink from the holy spring that miraculously appeared on March 25th 1858.

The 70th officially recognized Miracle

The original spring is behind glass today in Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes

One of the latest official miracles was officially declared by Bishop Jacques Benoit-Gonin of Beauvais, France on Feb. 11, 2018.

The miraculous event involved a French nun, Sister Bernadette Moriau, who went on a pilgrimage to the shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in 2008. She had been suffering from spinal complications, which had rendered her wheelchair-bound and fully disabled since 1980. She also said she had been taking morphine to control the pain.

When Sister Moriau visited the Lourdes Shrine in 2008, it is claimed she “never asked for a miracle.” However, after attending a blessing for the sick at the shrine, something began to change.

I felt a [surge of] well-being throughout my body, a relaxation, warmth…I returned to my room and there, a voice told me to ‘take off your braces´. Surprise. I could move,” Moriau said, noting that she instantaneously walked away from her wheelchair, braces, and pain medications.

There is a procedure to make it an official miracle. While there have been more than 7,000 miraculous recoveries attributed to the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes at the French shrine, only 70 cases have been officially recognized by the Catholic Church.

A miraculous recovery must generally be a complete, spontaneous, and immediate healing from a documented medical condition.

Firstly, Moriau’s case was brought to the attention of the International Medical Committee of Lourdes, who extensively researched the nun’s recovery. They eventually found that Moriau’s healing could not be scientifically explained.

Then, after a healing is recognized by the Lourdes committee, the paperwork is sent to the diocese of origin, where the local bishop has the final say. After the bishop’s blessing, a healing can then be officially recognized by the Church as a miracle.

Summary

  • As per 2018, there are 70 officially recognized miraculous recoveries
  • Sister Bernadette Moriau had been disabled for 28 years and is now fully recovered
  • A miraculous recovery must be a complete, spontaneous, and immediate healing from a documented medical condition

Why do Miracles happen in Lourdes?

Grotto with holy spring at Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes France

One can only guess, but from our experience and research we realized that:

An Amplified Field created from large masses coming together is healing

The feeling of coming home – the peace and stillness – is very present walking around in Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. You can easily sense the sacred and holy energy coming from the more than 200 million pilgrims that have visited Lourdes since 1860.

According to theories regarding the powers at sacred sites, this large number of devout pilgrims has contributed to and thereby amplified the field of holiness that surrounds the shrine of Lourdes. This field then attracts more pilgrims, who in turn contribute to the further empowerment of the field.

Hence, the higher frequency a site has, the more we are drawn there. Human beings have an innate longing to expand our consciousness – to be more whole and “us” than ever before. When we are present at sacred sites with high frequencies, we will be entrained to that higher frequency and healing can occur.

That is because everything vibrates at different frequencies. So when different vibrating things/processes/people come into proximity: they will often start, after a little time, to vibrate together at the same frequency. They “sync up,” sometimes in ways that can seem mysterious. This is described today as the phenomenon of spontaneous self-organization. And it is the highest vibrating frequency that entrain the lower – never the opposite – thank God! 😉

Believing in a higher power

Thousands of people from all different nationalities coming together at the same time with the same intention of being healed and get strength in hard times from a higher power or God can show us our value as humanity.

Officials estimate that more than 80,000 sick and disabled pilgrims come to Lourdes each year. More than 100,000 volunteers assist in caring for these people, and helping them as they make their way to services. That also can increase the sense of value of humanity. Being at service to others is a powerful force.

When we believe in a power larger than our own, we can let go of our control, we can relax and surrender. That can open us up to experience miracles. We do not longer try to be something we deepest down don’t even believe we are – and allow a higher power to nurture and fill us. That can help us feel our own value and power. We can sense how much God/Universe/higher power loves us – so who are we to argue our own worth?

Each year, around 400.000 people let themselves be bathed in the 12 degree Celsius warm spring water, with hope of spiritual solvation and physical healing. Lourdes water is brought home in bottles, in thousands of gallons to be shared with loved ones.

In other words: When we believe in something greater than ourselves, and we share that love with our surroundings, we create an energy field around that belief that makes it real. The more people who believe in the power – the more miracles can happen.

Children are often more open to miracles – especially in times of crisis

Besides the 1858 events in Lourdes, there were many remarkable apparitions in Europe the following centuries. Generally speaking, these apparitions occurred in Roman Catholic countries; the witnesses of the apparitions were usually young children between the ages of 6 and 12; the messages were given by the apparitions to the children were concerned with world affairs of which the children had no previous knowledge; and the apparitions made accurate predictions of future events.

To understand the timing of the Marian apparitions may be in their tendency to occur at times of social and/or political crisis. At such times of stress, some form of mass telepathic communication may occur in the collective consciousness of the threatened culture. This may lead to the formation of a “group mind”, which, in turn, results in the experience of a Marian visitation…..

Or, maybe beings from other dimensions reach out to children who are more open to supernatural experiences to communicate the urgent needs on the planet so we and the planet can thrive. We decide what to believe.

D. Scott Rogo, writes in his book Miracles, that “Experimental evidence suggests children may be inherently more psychic than adults and therefore more naturally sensitive to spiritual presences.”

There are the important factors of humility and worldly ignorance and programming. Children, not yet programmed with the adult belief that certain things are impossible, still have a channel of receptivity open to the miraculous. The word Impossible – can just as well be perceived as I’m possible… We might have something to learn from children…

Summary

  • The amplified field coming from thousands of pilgrims from all around the world with the same intention and longing – to be healed and cured – is a miracle in it self. When people come together – we can move mountains.
  • When we believe in a power larger than our own, we surrender and we are open to miracles. Going to a sacred site with a clear intention support us to tap into experiencing our own value and power.
  • Children and young are often said to be more open and sensitive to miracles when other realms are calling us to help the planet – and Bernadette was only 14 years old when she had these visions.

Bigger picture of small Lourdes

Gate of Life at Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes France

Gate of Life at Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes France

Gate of life….We can enter another door to look at this to see a bigger picture.

Lourdes is located in southern France in the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains near the prime meridian.

A prime meridian is a meridian (a line of longitude) in a geographical coordinate system at which longitude is defined to be 0°. Together, a prime meridian and its antimeridian (the 180th meridian in a 360°-system) form a great circle. This great circle divides the sphere, e.g., the Earth or brain, into two hemispheres. If one uses directions of East and West from a defined prime meridian, then they can be called Eastern Hemisphere and Western Hemisphere.

It is said in the Mayan culture that we are now in the time of integration of the two hemispheres, both on the planet and of our brains. In practice that means that the old ways cannot exist any more. We are ”forced” to do things differently, living from our hearts. To co-create a new world. We cannot experience oneness if we separate ourselves and want to do it our way. We have to collaborate. We have to come together, to reach the tipping point so the Golden Age can evolve.

The Mayans described our Earth to reflect our two brain hemispheres.

The Eastern part of our planet represents our right-brain hemisphere and the Western part of our planet represents the left-brain hemisphere.

The left brain is usually representing our analytical, logical side immersed in numbers and letters and logical part of the brain, it is also seen as the masculine side of us, celebrating the individual consciousness.

The right brain is often seen as the creative and intuitive side of us, also seen as the female part of us, involved with form, color, music and abstracts, celebrating the collective or the group.

These qualities also mostly have been dominating on our planet this way.

The Mayans described how the mid-line of East and West geographically represents the line where our brain parting divides left brain from right brain hemisphere; this mid-line in our brain is geographically represented on our planet as well (called Prime Meridian in the geographical coordinate system).

The Mayan culture called it “the World Tree center” – a Power-field – like a huge Tree from which the Transformation of Consciousness branches out after the Calendar moves to a completion around 2012 to naturally move mankind towards a Unity Consciousness.

This Power-field, according to the Mayans, goes right through the Scandinavian countries and down further through Berlin (actually right thru the former Berlin wall), Rome, Africa and Hawaiian Island where it faces the direct opposite of Scandinavia – together forming the World Tree Center.

This line is also represented in the brain parting the two hemispheres. It is a Tree of Wisdom center emerging right through the middle of the Earth parting the two hemispheres – with the purpose to unite the two hemispheres into Unity Consciousness. From Duality into Oneness.

What does that mean for humans?

When they did research on Einsteins brain, the only difference they found was that the gap between his two brain hemispheres were closer together than on a “normal” brain. It is really simple really. If we were to be in direct resonance and balance with our two brain halves, it would help us in the movement of Consciousness into Oneness. And use more of our brains as well.

What does that mean for the healings happening at Lourdes?

When people come together in a sacred site – we move from a very individualistic and logic left hemisphere way of being to a more collective nurturing right hemisphere way of being.

Maybe that is part of the power of Lourdes?

Our brains get more integrated and healings happen. Balancing our hemispheres can reactivate our brain and makes us feel happier, connected and peaceful.

The primary meridian are said to run differently in the two systems.

So even if there is a difference in the interpretation of where this meridian goes – the geographic coordination system or the Mayan system – it is too much of a coincidence for me to not wonder….

Summary

  • The Mayan prophesy of the new Golden age is coming from integration of the Right and Left Hemispheres
  • If we see Earths primary meridian as that integration point – going through this area of Southern France – can imply that this sacred site can balance and sync our brains
  • This brain sync can explain the miraculous powers of Lourdes

Conclusion

There is something about the healing powers of Lourdes….

Where they come from and how it is possible, is a question of what we believe. If it is an action from God, the power of humanity or integration of our brain hemispheres, or something totally different…. Who knows? What do you believe?
